The Style and Beauty Doctor reader Myranda is going to a comedy show soon and wrote in asking, “Hi Danielle, I never know how to dress for this. I see women wearing short dresses and sky high heels and I just get confused. Can you please share some advice on this? Thank you!!”
Hey Myranda!
Anytime I go to a comedy show, I wear jeans, a cute top, and heels but if I’m on a date, I’ll wear a not too fussy dress and nice heels. The consensus seems to be on my level of thinking because most other women are dressed in the same manner and of course it depends on who you’re going to the show with and what you’re doing right after. If it were a really hot date with a night of dancing after, I can see a short dress with sky high heels being appropriate but in most cases just keep it casual and cute with something like these three options…
This is how dressy I’d personally get for a comedy show pairing skinny wax coated denim or leather pants with an oversized sweater and dressing it up with a faux fur jacket and studded heels.
Jeans are almost always the right choice for a comedy show. I’m usually in jeans for a show at Caroline’s and have worn them to see people like Chris Rock at Madison Square Garden. Jazz it up with cute shoes and a dressy blouse
And for when you want to be a little sexy without baring it all, pull out a blazer, skinny jeans, and printed pumps and pair it with a corset top.
Hope this gives you some ideas, Myranda! Have fun ;)
I totally agree that what you wear is dependent on what you’re doing afterwards but make sure to bring a jacket since those large auditoriums tend to be a little chilly but I’d say looking casual glam is the way to go!
I love these looks esp the leather pants! Thanks Danielle!!

Thanks for the suggestions on what to wear. I don’t go out much and I want to look good for this occasion. I’m a 57 year old single woman. I wear my hair very short.
How about jeans and tennis shoes to the comedy club for women?
