NEW Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural: A Moment on the Lips…

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

Make Up For Ever is always coming out with hot, new innovative products which is one of the many reasons why I love the brand. Remember when they revamped their entire lipstick line with the Rouge Artist Intense lippies? They came in like a gazillion colors and finishes and were practically the bee’s knees for lipstick lovers. Seemingly not quite content with having just 50 lipsticks under their belt, they created an ultra-creamy lipstick with a translucent soft, shiny finish and here we have Rouge Artist Natural. It also comes in 50 shades—I bought two, received one in my press bag at The Makeup Show LA, and received another from the brand’s PR.

Rouge Artist Natural feels really good on the lips—soft and creamy, pigmented color with a little shine. Because of the lighter feel, it doesn’t last as long as Rouge Artist Intense which are more full coverage. I definitely couldn’t get through a meal without having to reapply, but these are nice for a gloss girl trying to transition to lipstick. It’s a happy medium between gloss and full creme lipsticks.

N48 (Griotte Red–available only at MUFE boutiques) is a deep blue-red. N7 (Icy Brown–available at both Sephora and MUFE boutiques) is a neutral pinky-brown and makes a great nude for dark olive to dark skin tones. N50 (Aubergine–available at both Sephora and MUFE boutiques) is a dark plummy red. N26 (Raspberry—available only at MUFE boutiwues) is a pinky coral. All shades apply sheer with shine.

Bottom line: These are okay to have—particularly if you prefer a more sheer yet pigmented application of color and shine with your lipsticks. I wouldn’t say these are a must-have even though I do love shade N48 as it really reminds me of MAC Runway Red which was a fave of mine and limited edition. If your lips are exceptionally dry, you’ll definitely appreciate how smooth and comfy these feel on the lips.

18 shades are available at Sephora stores and Sephora.com while the full 50 shade range is available at Make Up For Ever boutiques (New York City, Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas). Shop Rouge Artist Natural in the widget below:

    Hey Danielle,

I tried this when they had the launch a few months ago and I got the N28, which is similar to MAC Rebel lipstick, although I think its a little lighter. I do like the creamy formula and they touted this as being great for TV. I like that it’s pigmented without being heavily pigmented. I agree that this is not an absolute must have but they are a great option!

    Hi Danielle,

I was wondering do you know of any other pinky coral colors, since n26 is only available at MUFE boutiques? I’ve been on the hunt for one lately….thanks

    Hey Danielle!

So I recently picked up N7 and you were right about it being a great nude. This is my new favorite lipstick to wear during drill weekends. Thanks!
