Remember back when I was blabbing about how much I love French retinol cream Avibon? Well you can officially put it on the “I love” list for giving me more even toned and vibrant skin. I actually had my mind made up since my last update, but many of you either tweeted, emailed, or saw me in person and asked me for more updates when I forgot to post one (I seriously LOVE you guys for being as enthused about beauty products as I am—I’d totally strong arm someone for additional deets on beauty dish…lol).
So a quick overview (though you should really read my previous Avibon posts), Avibon is a retinol—retinols help even the skin tone, fight acne, and help diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s SUPER greasy—like putting Vaseline on your face so don’t go telling your significant other that I gave the OK to wear this to bed because I’m not trying to get jumped next time I leave my apartment, OK? Anyway, I like pairing Avibon with Alpha Hydrox Spotlight Skin Lightener because I noticed a quicker turnaround time with my dark spots fading in my first month of using it.
After month two I was asked to try another company’s night treatment, so I paused Avibon for a month (which actually isn’t a bad thing—I’ve heard dermatologists say it’s good to pause retinols for a bit then start up again so they don’t lose their efficacy) and started back up about two weeks ago. I’m likely going to stop using it again if temps here in NYC stay in the 80s—my apartment building is notorious for turning on the AC really late and it gets super hot at night without it and imagine that plus Avibon on the face o_O
Once the AC’s back on, so’s the Avibon ;)
Bottom line: This is okay for any skin type–as you use it at night after cleansing–and helps improve the texture and tone of the skin. While you won’t suddenly go from highly textured skin to a baby’s bottom, it’s good to use to help whip the skin’s texture back to shape over time. If you’ve ever used retinols before, you’ll appreciate that Avibon isn’t drying or irritating. If you have sensitive skin, as always, do a patch test first.

Thanks so much for the update! I have been loving this product. I got mine from avibon.com and it took a little over a week to get here (they said to give it 10-14 days), so that was a pleasant surprise. Really good to know about taking a break from retinols. It’s been nearly a month for me and I already see improvements with dark spots and stretchmarks. Good stuff!

Hey bebe!
You’re welcome! Glad you’re seeing some results! You’ll have to share your updates, too :)
I just ordered some. I’m going to try it out. I saw it after reading Carine Roitfelds online magazine CR fashion book.com. I didn’t even know she had a magazine. I’ve been bogged down with school so that explains why I’ve lived under a rock. I can’t wait to try it. I love beauty products. I’ll try anything.

Hey Lillian!
I LOVE CR! She’s one of my fashion favorites ;)
Keep me posted on how Avibon works out for you :)
HI there, thanks for the update! Sadly this Avibon product is not available anymore- they have replaced it with a product called A313, and the concentration of vitamin A is much lower (200,000 U. I.). Will you be reviewing this product? I’m not actually sure what the UI part means, so would love to hear your thoughts on that too! Thanks :)
