Remember when I met Tom Ford himself last November and he asked me to model and open for his Spring 2012 show?
OK, so TF didn’t exactly ask me to open his show, but I DID get to meet him in all his ethereal glory when his full range cosmetics line debuted at Bergdorf Goodman. I loved the Cheek Color—it’s a gorgeous flush of color with a luminous finish—but just not on me. As surprisingly bright as Flush (a peachy coral) looks in the pan, it didn’t translate as bright on my NW47 skin. And if you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you know the mantra is the darker the skin, the brighter the blush. So I had to admire how pretty Tom Ford Cheek Color looked on women with lighter complexions (it was INSANELY gorgeous) and play with the 50 million other blushes that work well for me. Until now…
When I first sat with a beauty advisor at the TF counter who went over all the products with me for a story I did last year, he described every product as having a sensuous experience. I’m ALL about the sensuous experience. The brushes are meant to feel as if Tom Ford’s heavenly hands were gliding across your face, the finish on the makeup feels like the luxurious fabrics used in TF’s collections, I mean—you see where we’re going with this, right? For a girl from Queens who worships Tom Ford designs as much as the next fashion fiend, but can only currently dream about it, the cosmetics line is the next best thing.
So let’s get into more detail about Narcissist Cheek Color (sent to me by the brand’s PR). First of all, SUPER pigmented. What you see is what you get. This color (a bold raspberry pink) is NOT for the faint at heart. My dark skin typically absorbs richly hued blush color but even I had to tone down Narcissist. This is a good thing though because you can vary the intensity depending on your mood and the look you’re going for. While it will work on all skin tones (with a light hand and a big fluffy brush of loose powder on hand for lighter complexions), girls who are olive complected and darker—this one’s for you!
And the wear? OMG—the wear. Even after toning it down, my cheeks were just as rouged and fierce nine hours later.
So should you spend $55 on this? Hard for me to tell you that (I would though), but if your heart skipped several beats from the title to this very sentence all throughout this post, I think you might want to do yourself a favor and treat yourself.

Danielle, this looks gorgeous on you! And you hair looks so lush ! Since I am also dark skinned I will definitely pick this up since it’s hard to find blushes for us. Thanks for sharing.

@ChelseaChute4LW oohhhh of course! It’s called Narcissist. You can see it here: http://t.co/dFG6X7Vi
Have you tried the shade and illuminate palette. I do not have the means to swatch it cause Neiman’s is just too damn far and I really want to know how it shows up on dark skin tones.
