Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser

As the seasons change, so do the skincare products I use. What works for my oily skin in summer, may not cut it come fall/winter so I’ll typically switch to slightly heavier formulas when the temperatures drop. Except the weather hasn’t really been consistent and we’ve had milder days during fall in NYC with some really cold ones tossed in every now and then. So for the most part I’ve had to switch products as the cold/warm fronts switch.

When we do have true colder weather, typically what happens with my skin (all skin, really) is the renewal process can begin to slow down leaving the skin looking a little dull as dead skin cells aren’t shedding as quickly as they would in say summer. I’m no stranger to glycolic acid—it becomes a part of my routine sometimes year-round but particularly when it gets colder and drier out as this chemical exfoliant will help to rid the skin of shine-stealing dead skin cells and oily build up. Mario Badescu sent over their Glycolic Foaming Cleanser for review consideration about a month ago and I added it into my routine to see if it would be a yay or a nay.

The deets:
For dull, congested skin, this lathering, deep cleanser has the exfoliating powers of Glycolic Acid to break down build-up from skins surface, reduce minor discoloration and leave skin radiant and smooth. Formulated with Herbal Extracts for soothing benefits. Best when used 2-3 times weekly or as recommended by your skin specialist based on your skins needs.

Mario Badescu Gylcolic Foaming Cleanser is formulated for all skin types, but if you have oilier skin you’ll want to use it 2-3 times a week and if you have drier skin, 1-2 times a week. It’s purpose is mostly to deep clean—it doesn’t replace your daily cleanser. I liked using it 1-3 times a week depending on the condition of my skin and the weather along with my Clarisonic Aria. It’s important that you pay attention to the condition of your skin when using this (like you would any product) because if you use this more often than your skin needs, it can dry it out and/or cause irritation. Think of it as a little detox for your skin especially if you wear makeup daily. You also get a good amount of product (6 oz) for something you won’t use daily, so a bottle could last you longer than a season.

Bottom line: Though this is formulated for all skin types, I’d say it’s better worth your while if you have oily skin or if you wear makeup often.

Mario Badescu makes my favorite sunscreen b/c it’s the only one I’ve ever used on my face that wasn’t all greasy and gray. In my experience, most facial sunscreens do not work on dark skin and whatever the formulation is on this one, it goes on like regular moisturizer. I’m not sure how it would hold up in fierce sun, but I find it good for regular daily use.

My previous skin care products I used damage my skin, non stop breakouts and acne scars are all over my face not until I discovered Mario Badescu products, I’m so happy with my skin right it may not be perfect but its better than before for only 2 weeks of using these products.
