Beauty Trend: Oils

Certainly oils in beautifying routines are not anything new—but these days products in oil form benefiting everything from the face, hair, and body are pretty prevalent on the beauty shelves. Without even realizing it, my own beauty stash was accumulating quite the number of oils (many of which are press samples)–allowing me to primp and feel totally pampered right from the comfort of my own home.

Matrix ExquisiteOil Protective Treatment: This has SEVEN uses. As per Matrix: mix it with your shampoo and conditioner for maximum brilliance; use for a massage before shampooing like an oil for a special treatment; smooth on dry lengths and ends for immediate luster; use on face-framing pieces for simple control and manageability; leave on extra-dry ends overnight for a non-greasy treatment; ultimate styling aid for blow dryer or flat iron; add to any treatment for added brilliance, softness and manageability. Carol’s Daughter Monoi Oil Treatment: My hairstylist was the first to introduce this to me—it uses the power of monoi oil to help strengthen the hair and prevent damage from the sun and heat-styling. It’s also awesome to prevent frizz and to add shine.

L’Occitane Almond Firming And Softening Supple Skin Oil: I LOVE this right after a shower when my skin is still a little damp—it’s a total treat and you go to bed feeling all luxurious and pampered. Like seriously, try to NOT keep sniffing yourself. It’s enriched with three essential oils (peppermint, palmarosa and immortelle) to help protect the skin’s firming support tissue.

Murad Renewing Cleansing Oil: I got a tip straight from the Murad team to use this with slightly damp hands to remove makeup and then follow with Murad Refreshing Skin Cleanser. It gets the makeup off without making my skin feel stripped of all its oils.

Ouidad Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil: My curls absolutely love this. It contains Mafura Butter and Kalahari Melon Seed Oil, silk proteins, and coconut oil to nourish and protect the hair. It’s like this whole luxurious experience just cleansing your hair not to mention it smells SO good.

Caudalie Divine Oil: I’m probably running a theme here with how many of these products smell really good and if that’s the case, this is definitely on that list. This smells exactly like Dolce & Gabbana’s The One fragrance. Containing grape oil, extra-virgin argan oil, extra-virgin hibiscus oil, and sesame oil, you can use Divine Oil to quickly revive an old hairstyle (I used it to put the pep back into my rain-compromised updo done with a roller set on my natural hair), to add sheen to the skin, to coat your cuticles, and you can also add it to your bath water.

Olie Biologique 100% Organic Argan Oil: This contains non-processed, chemical-free, organic argan oil and is rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids to help protect and repair the skin, helps to strengthen the nails, and restore shine to hair. Get it at New London Pharmacy here.

Kate Somerville Dilo Oil: A restorative treatment, it helps to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier improving skin hydration, improves the look of skin firmness and elasticity, evens skin tone, and helps to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme: I love this as a pre-shampoo treatment to help prep my curls—leave it on for 10-15 minutes or you can even do it overnight and then wash and condition as normal. It contains natural palm oil from a sustainable source in Colombia.

Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum: Made with Ojon’s famous restorative Ojon oil, this helps tame frizz, speeds up the drying process so you’re not cooking your hair with your blow dryer, and adds shine while helping to strengthen weak hair.

M Steves Ultra-Nourishing Boost: Made of cold-pressed rose hip seed oil, fatty acids, and antioxidants, this works by massaging it into the skin giving it (as its name would suggest) a boost in radiance. I love that it dries down quickly so there isn’t this layer of oil running all over your face and it’s perfect (for me) in the winter months when my skin tends to get dull. You can also mix it into your foundation or moisturizer to create a dewy glow. Get it here.

L’Oreal Sublime Sun Sheer Protect Sunscreen Oil: I love this because not only does it smell great and gives me a gorgeous glow, but it also helps to protect against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays.
