As you can see from the packaging, I’ve been getting a lot of mileage from my Cover FX

So while singing the praises of Cover FX Total Cover Cream on my Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook surrounding my “Find Your Shade” event I hosted at Sephora Union Square, I realized that I never did an official review so I of course had to immediately remedy that.
If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, you’re in for quite a treat. The mostly complexion-based line prides themselves in covering our bases—literally—by having a wide range of foundations that suit both our coverage and shade needs. A couple of my fair complected pals even thought out of habit that they’d be the lightest shade the brand offered and were surprised to see there was a shade or two even lighter than them. And undertones? It’s like they invented undertones. They go all in when it comes to undertones giving us so many choices from pink to golden to neutral and going from fair to deep. Not only that but they use good-for-skin ingredients in their products. It’s like they’re the complexion whisperers.
They have liquid foundation, cream foundation, CC cream, mineral powder foundation, concealer, primers, brushes. They mean business.

Now about this Total Cover Cream. As an oily-skinned American, a cream foundation isn’t what I’d go to first when it comes to coverage but Total Cover Cream is surprisingly compatible. It covers well, has a my-skin-but-better finish, and actually holds up quite well. Sure I have to touch-up a few times throughout the day as I normally would with any foundation or even with just my bare skin, but it’s nothing crazy and out of the usual. It also lasts really long, too—I rely on it for days when I’m out going from appointment to appointment and spending a good 10+ hours outside. It might be a little much for warmer weather when I would switch to something lighter (their Cream Concealer is amazing, too, btw), but it’s perfect for the recent 60-70 degree weather we’ve been getting lately.

I’m shade N 110 (which I thought at one point wasn’t a match for me when I went to a Cover FX launch event last year, but I think it’s because I may have had it mixed up with shade N 100) but I also like to use N 120 to contour (this shade I’m told may be discontinued) and Cream Concealer in N Deep to highlight (see the process here). I set the highlighted areas with Cover FX Pressed Mineral Powder in N 80, the contoured areas with Cover FX Pressed Mineral Powder in N 120 and then I use Dior Airflash Matte Touch to set everything else.

Of course all of this is not necessary as you can just use your regular shade and set it with powder. I like to be a little extra sometimes these days…lol.
Here’s swatches of the Cream Concealer in case you were curious. I use N X-Deep under my eyes and to concealer any dark spots for a simple look and N-Deep to highlight for a more dramatic look (see more here).
Bonus: There was a sample card of N 90 and N 100 in the Cocotique box I received for October (more on that soon) so here’s swatches of those shades…
Bottom line: So totally worth a try. I love foundation and actually have about 6 or 7 brands I rotate between and still LOVE Cover FX Total Cover Cream enough to even buy additional products with my own money. Color me obsessed!
