Ha—hard to believe that the collage above represents some of the different hairstyles I’ve had over the last 12 months or so given the fact that I used to be the girl who seldom strayed from her weekly roller sets at the Dominican salon. The most I’d change back then was maybe the way I parted my hair and I’d totally be the girl who would be in tears after an overzealous “trim,” but something about chopping your hair to an itty bitty, teeny weeny afro (which I did in 2011) makes you want to take a chance or two or ten. Plus it’s funny when my friends who don’t know the power of kinks, flat irons, and hair weave have that puzzled look on their face when they see me with a new totally different ‘do…lol.
What I’ve been working with lately
But today I have a hair appointment with my stylist Gabi—nothing major, just some big curls because I have a photo shoot tomorrow AND Saturday (heyyyy) and then next week I’m headed to LA for something really fun but then after THAT, I have another hair appointment with her to take out my extensions and do something else. What exactly, I’m not sure. I have some wavy clip-in extensions I’ve been dying to try out and that would be fun because then I can easily switch styles without having 10 pounds of weave sewn in my hair. I shaved the right side of my hair off back in May, but the hair has grown back into a TWA (teeny weeny afro). If I blow it out, it’s long enough to be a “long pixie” but then what do I do with that and the other side of my hair? I’ve contemplated doing another big chop to even everything out but changed my mind as I think it’s much more fun to think of ways to work around half of my hair being significantly shorter than the rest. hehe :)
I’m thinking some sort of cute style where the shorter part is braided might work. Extensions have been helping disguise it as the shorter side grows in, but I kind of want to have fun with my own hair for a bit.
Or maybe I’ll get a wig? Ugh, but I’ll need to make sure that thing is strapped on tight because last thing I need is for me to trip on something and the wig pops off. SMH.
Welp. Stay tuned for whatever I decide :D
Dont be scurrred lol wigs are fun! and nobody has to know lol ;)

haha—I just need to make sure the thing is strapped on well…lol
Love your hairstyles!!!! Please make sure your wig is strapped on TIGHT! It’s nothing like being in the grocery store trying to reach for a 2 liter when you take it down only to realize your wig was somehow caught in your fingers and it literally slides off your head and you are holding it in your hand!! The HORROR!!! The your husband is walking down the aisle looking for you but doesn’t really realize it’s you cause you aren’t the same chick who walked in the store with the wig on:) I still laugh when I think back on that eventful grocery shopping trip!!

Omg!!! I’m DYING!!!! Lmaoooooooooooooooo
Your hairstyles for the past 12 months are all stunning! My stylist styled my hair several times this year and I think it’s a good idea to compile photos of them to see which one I should repeat. It can be scary to wear wigs at first but once you get used to it, it’s a lot of fun! Looking forward to your next hair post :)
