For like the last month I kept having this inner-dialogue with myself about my brows being a bit too dark. I love a thick brow and mine are pretty thick on their own but of course need help via a good brow powder or pencil, but they just seemed to slightly over power my face a bit. I needed to brighten my disposition up as they say. I mean, brow lightening isn’t just for extreme runway beauty cases, going up a shade or two won’t hurt nobody—particularly those who color their hair. And I mean, Sam Fine almost always breaks out the brow bleach for his celebrity clientele so bleaching brows isn’t that far out of the norm, right?
A slightly browner shade was in the cards for me. I just knew it. I like the idea of playing up brow color with whatever makeup look I’m doing via a tinted brow gel, but with my brows being so dark, that wasn’t really happening. So I electric-slided my way over to CVS and picked up the Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach. After all, it is the #1 selling bleach brand in the U.S. ;)
The instructions were easy enough—mix the activator with the bleach using the enclosed spatula (note that I wish the mixing tray was more of a mini bowl because it was a little awkward mixing the stuff) and then apply to the brows making sure you get all of the hairs. I left it on for a slightly shorter duration than the instructions mentioned because I wanted brown not blonde and that I got! But if you goof and go too light, you can always use brow powder and pencil to darken them until they all grow back in.

After:
(This was immediately after and my brows needed to be threaded)
You can’t really see how brown they are in pics, but they’re lighter in person. I LOVE! I can darken them up if I want to or go for more auburn look via Anastasia Brow Gel in Auburn (as seen in the last pic)—the possibilities are limitless. I wonder why I hadn’t done this sooner :)
This is funny because Im interested in the opposite. I have thick and full brows but they are not dark, so I use the pencil everyday…and my lashes are basically invisible without mascara lol.Im not trying to go blind for beauty so I wont tint my lashes but im def. considering my eyebrows.

Yes—tint the brows! lol
Haha, when I read the title I thought you pulled a Miley Cyrus and bleached them something crazy like blonde. But now that I read the post I love how they turned out! Hmm.. This makes me want to bleach my brows because they really brighten your face :)

HAHA!!! I’m not that bold…although I could just darken them, but uh, yeah…lol.
Thanks!!!
You should totally do it—going up a shade or two won’t be too drastic while still making a difference :)
I’ve lightened mine because I color my hair and I loved the results. The bleach ales relaxes the hair a little so they lay better. To me the brow products work better as well.
” I electric slided over to cvs ” too funny

LOL
It looks great!! I bought Sam Fine’s coffee table book some years back and I’ve always been intrigued with how one of the first things he does with his celebrity clients is bleach the eyebrows. It really, really opens up the face! There are instructions in his book on how to do, but I’m too afraid to try it myself. One wish list items is a makeover session with him. I keep and eye out on his website to see when he is in NYC and booking, but I’ve not seen any offering for quite a bit. Anyway, love the look!

Hella cute!! Now I’m working how come I never thought of this instead of looking for brow pencils. This looks super easy.
