And I’m back with part four of 50 Shades of Blush! If you missed any of the previous parts, check it out here.
I’ve been so excited about this series—and this is the final part in a series of four. I’ve always been blush‘s biggest advocate encouraging women to wear it more often and even scaring some when I was a makeup artist when I’d pull something out like NARS Exhibit A and then watching their faces light up the second they saw it on their cheeks.
Being the blush fiend that I am, I thought about doing some sort of series with blush like I did with 50 Shades of Lipstick. Only thing is I shaved down my blush collection significantly over the holidays and gave away a ton of shades to lucky family members and friends. I still have way too much but there certainly aren’t 50 shades…lol.
Then it took me awhile to figure out how I wanted to produce this thing. Applying and reapplying 50 lipstick shades during one shoot is already a feat in and of itself, but blush is much harder to pull off. I’d have to practically redo my makeup between each color and then my skin would be on fire and who wants their skin to be on fire, ya know?
So after having many convos with myself, I decided I’d just do it by color category and take pics of me wearing one color from each category and then I’d swatch the rest on my arms. Because to be honest, many of these colors look the same on—don’t be a blush hoarder like me…lol. And then if you guys had questions about a particular color, well, that’s what the comments are for :)
I’ve also reviewed most of these previously on the blog, so just click the hyperlink on their name. And if I haven’t reviewed, just ask if you have questions BUT for the most part if they’re still in my stash, they’re alright with me.
Anyway, enough rambling. Onto the oranges!!

(I’m wearing more blush than I normally would so you can see the color–here I’m wearing Sleek MakeUP Blush by 3 in Flame. I think my lips are bare with maybe a little moisturizer on them.)
Here’s how I normally wear blush for instance:
Also these are not new blushes–I’ve dropped, used, and abused these :x
NARS Exhibit A, a bold matte red-orange
Dolce & Gabbana Sole, a matte bold orange
black | UP #7, a bold matte red (okay so this one isn’t so orange but I don’t have enough reds for a separate category…lol)
Sleek MakeUP Blush by 3 in Flame, a blush trio with a matte soft coral, a bright red-orange (similar to Exhibit A), and a burnt orange-red with shimmer shade
Thank you–you wear it well :)
I rarely wear blush, it was always an after thought. Plus having my father’s high cheekbones, narrow eyes and a round face, I shied away from that beauty product. But I really like a few of the colors and trust your advice/reviews.
Thanks, Ginger !!! Charlene, try starting with a drugstore blush—Black Radiance and NYX are two brands that make great blush under $10. That way you can give it a whirl without committing much $$. And here’s a post that helps explain placement of blush for different face shapes: https://www.thestyleandbeautydoctor.com/2008/08/blush-application-from-make-up-for-ever/
Thanks Danielle!
My wallet is grateful to you because I don’t need Nars Exhibit A anymore! I went to London and specifically looked for Sleek makeup because of your reviews (well done btw), and bought the orange blush palette. LOVE IT. Now I can see on your arm that Flame is pretty similar to Exhibit A.

Aww yay! Glad I could help you save some money! You’re so lucky you’re able to get Sleek MakeUP in store :)
Finally! Yay! I find orange blush to be very flattering for my skintone. Dolce & Gabbana Sole has really caught my attention. Great pigment but not to loud :)
