No—not THAT kind of glossy nude (dirty minds, yo!), I mean for your lips. Nude of course is a relative term depending on your skin tone, but whatever your nude is, I’m talking about that but with clear gloss on top. Or a glossy lip color that’s your nude. I’m OBSESSED with them. Yes, bright lips are still my heart, but I’m having a gloss moment and more specifically a glossy nude moment.
It all started again when I asked makeup artist Brandy Allen to give me a glossy nude for the Think Like a Man Too premiere. I don’t know how it popped into my head but I was all like “ummm…highlight/contour, bright cheek, glossy nude lip.”
But anyway, if you’re down with the glossy nudes like I’m down with the glossy nudes, here’s how to get the look:
1. Grab your fave nude lipstick (get ideas on what works for your skin tone from my nude lips tag).
2. Grab a sparkly, shiny nude gloss (in the same color family as your lipstick) or just do clear.
Easy, right? I think layering gives the lips more dimension than just putting on a shiny nude gloss which sometimes don’t live up to their full pigmented potential. Some of my fave nude lipstick + gloss combos are: Tom Ford Deep Mink lipstick + Tom Ford Pink Guilt gloss, Revlon Hazelnut lipstick + Milani Bare Secret Brilliant Shine Gloss. BECCA Ultimate Colour Lip Gloss in Autumn Punch is also a fave of mine—it’s a gloss with enough pigment and shine to be a good glossy nude on its own.
I LIVE for a glossy nude lip! In general I prefer gloss to lipstick so glossy nudes are perfect and easy :-)
