You gotta love a brand that gives the people what they want. Urban Decay did just that when they brought out Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics after UD fans wildly requested a sequel to the popular Basics eyeshadow palette mirrored after the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Being a huge fan of Naked 2 (it plus Naked 3 are my loves) and a fan of matte neutral shadows in general, I of course had to try Naked 2 Basics.
(I received Naked 2 Basics for review consideration)
So Naked 2 Basics has 6 cooler toned neutral shadows ranging from a soft vanilla to taupey greys to a deep brownish slate. You can create a number of both day and night looks with these and the pigmentation is the same awesome quality I love in Urban Decay shadows. These lasted well on me without primer (through most of the day), but you definitely want to wear a primer underneath to ensure all-day wear. While I could get a couple of great looks from the palette, I personally wish there were more darker shades particularly browns which would be more versatile for my skin tone. But I have nothing really to complain about since I have Naked 2 and oh, I don’t know, like a gazillion other eyeshadows…lol. But that’s something to think about though if you have darker skin and don’t have a ton of eyeshadows.
I don’t own Naked Basics 1, but from just eyeballing pictures of it on Google image search, it seems to be a darker version to Naked 2 which is probably more up my speed color-wise.
Bottom line: Great pigmentation and long-lasting eyeshadow palette—worth a whirl if you like matte greyish toned neutrals.
Price and where to buy: $29 at Sephora (plus 4% cash back when you use eBates)
These colors are right up my alley! I will be picking one up.
