So my coverage of Grenada is winding down (this is almost as sad as it was when I had to leave…lol) but I had to draw attention to one of my favorite experiences while in the beautiful island nation: my stay at the luxurious Spice Island Beach Resort. You can see other places to stay in Grenada here.
Spice Island Beach Resort is a Six Star Diamond awarded all-inclusive boutique hotel located on Grand Anse Beach. The property is family-owned and operated by the Hopkin family whose patriarch Sir Royston Hopkin acquired the hotel in 1987. You’ll also quite often see members of the Hopkin family around the resort greeting guests and making sure they’re enjoying their stay. In fact it’s not uncommon for guests to be invited to the Hopkin family home for cocktails. It’s all about the personal touch at Spice Island Beach Resort ;)

But that personal touch is taken to like the infinity power at Spice Island Beach Resort. They go the extra mile to make sure guests are comfortable—and by extra mile I mean they go like 100 miles…lol. And with about 60% of guests being return guests (and one guest on her 32nd visit at the time we were there), you know they’re doing it all right.
So let’s take a tour through my eyes…
When you arrive you’re greeted warmly by reception and given a refreshing champagne cocktail as you’re checked into your suite. Then you’re whisked away to your room.
There are a number of room options including a luxury suite with your own private pool and sauna. We were given a beautiful beachfront suite outfitted with two ridiculously comfy king size beds, a gorgeous bathroom (gotta have a gorgeous bathroom…lol), an entertainment area with a widescreen TV, and then as you step towards the beachfront there’s a spacious patio with your own private paved garden where you can sit back and take in the beautiful view and breeze coming from Grand Anse Beach along with a hammock if you want the complete taste of the good life…lol.
Take a look at a quick Hyperlapse video I took of the room:

We had just missed breakfast but we were able to order from in-room dining (all included) and fix ourselves a drink from the mini bar (also included). OMG the food is SO delicious. At Oliver’s Restaurant (located right on the resort) there’s a selection of Creole, international, and vegetarian dishes all blessed with the delightful and flavorful spice Grenada is known for—this is not to say spicy as in hot but spice as in seasoned so well you’ll want thirds and fourths.
Here’s a look at some dishes we had at lunch both days which included a savory callaloo linguine, rum punch (done right with nutmeg sprinkled on top), cinnamon cheesecake, and nutmeg ice cream. I swear if I close my eyes and think hard enough, I can taste everything again…lol.
If I wanted to be good, I could have had a wide selection of healthier foods to choose from including tons of local fruits, but I chose not to…lol.
After lunch we did some walking around the resort (because um: we REALLY enjoyed the food). In addition to the spacious suites there’s also Janissa’s Spa, a full service spa and salon where you can get any treatment imaginable from waxing to facials to manicures to massages to getting a fab blowout or soothing scalp massage (they work on all hair textures here). There’s also a gym that we made sure we made good use of later.

Our suite had a great view and access to the beach but we definitely had to spend some time poolside. Some of the suites have their own private pool but that doesn’t mean the main pool was to be missed. The sparkling blue waters were totally calling our names.
Then as the sun began to set, we got ready for dinner. I had the callaloo and seafood risotto (yuuuum) and stir fried vegetables and then indulged in a little dessert—the caramel glass box which was filled with bananas and coconut cream. There was a live band performing covers of popular songs and a selection of Calypso and Reggae. As we enjoyed our meal several people from management stopped by to chat with each guest (us, too!) to make sure we were all enjoying ourselves. We even had a treat and had Sir Royston himself chat with us for a few minutes.
We had plans of going out dancing with some of our Grenadian friends but those beds in our rooms were just so warm and inviting we couldn’t turn them down when they called for sleep…lol.
The next day we got up early for breakfast—I don’t know how I can eat pancakes without nutmeg syrup now…lol. Walked around a bit, relaxed a bit, and then checked out.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back here for a romantic trip with my husband—all I have to do is find a boyfriend, date, fall madly in love, and get married…lol. This place is a must-stay on at least one of your trips to Grenada (because you’ll love the country so much you’ll need to come back often). The service was unparalleled and I took a great liking to Sir Royston and his lovely daughters (I’m sure I’ll meet the rest of the family when my future husband and I come back for our stay…lol).
