A still from my latest Youtube video
It’s been FOREVER since I did one of these and figured it’d be a good time to check in and tell you some goings-on and other random things I’ve been thinking about lately…lol.
So first things first, sometimes periods can be the WORST. Like in the past like five days I wanted to quit blogging, felt like I had no style whatsoever, hated my hair, hated my makeup, felt like everyone hated me, and been eating ERRTHANG. LOL—I’m much better now but sheesh, why must mother nature try to take a G out like that? And don’t get me started on the hormonal pimples. Thankfully Estee Lauder Clear Difference Targeted Blemish Treatment hooked a girl up and busted them down when nothing else in my vanity would. If only there was something in my stash that could curb the hormonal feelings from PMS…lol.
From my Day in the Life post with Hanes
I’ve been SUPER busy as of late. I’ve picked up a bunch of really cool projects with some really cool brands (Cover FX, Sally Beauty Supply, Walgreens—just to name a few) so that’s always exciting. If you’ve been reading the blog for a while you probably have noticed I don’t post as often as I used to. I still try to post daily (aside from the weekends) which I still pretty much do a good 95% of the time but I used to be able to post 3-5 times a day. Since I started adding more to my content (namely pictures of me) it slows me down a great deal because I normally look like a ragamuffin since I work from home. It’s funny—the more I talk and write about makeup, the less of it I wear on a regular basis. Any time my mom sees me bumming it out she always jokes that she’s gonna take a picture of me to show you guys (gotta love West Indian parents…lol). So instead of being able to test more than one product on my face at a time like I did in the past, I’m now slowing down and doing full (or full-ish) looks to show it on me. This slows me down a great deal because I don’t always feel like taking pictures of myself and then sometimes it takes so much coaxing to get me to get dressed. Especially with going to the gym 3-5 times a week AND swimming lessons on Thursday mornings. Then when I’m actually going out, I don’t always have time (or the lighting) to stop and take pictures. The plight of the beauty blogger…lol. (actually, the TRUE plight is in paying taxes but that’s a LONG conversation for another time).
Primping ain’t easy, yo! (From my Revlon spring lip color post)
I want new hair. I just haven’t figured out what I want yet. I just had Echelon Loose Wavy (it’s pretty much the same as the Echelon Deep Wavy I reviewed here but much looser in its natural state—I prefer the Deep) installed about two weeks ago—it’s cool and all but I just realized today I’ve totally been lazy about hairstyles because I’ve had the same kind of weave style for like a year. I put it in, take it out, let my natural hair rock, put in another weave but it all looks the same and I need a change. Either I’m going super long next weave with some ridiculous color like a bright green or a pink in a random spot or I’m thinking about a second big chop and then getting a dope ass haircut. Or maybe I’ll just even out my hair so it’s the same length as the now grown out shaved side. I don’t know—I feel like I need a little edge. I kinda want to pierce my septum and then get a tattoo sleeve but I’m so back and forth and um, OUCH.

I’m plotting out trips for summer. I just booked a really fun adventure I’ll tell you about in a few months but I’m also looking at a couple of countries I NEED to visit so working on getting that to come to fruition. A girl’s got more world to see you know! I’m looking at Iceland, Grenada for Carnival, and then a long tour around Europe that includes England, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, etc. As long as there’s wifi, I’m there.
From my last trip to Düsseldorf for Karneval
In Grenada after New Year’s
This post is SO random…lol.
Let’s see—what else…
I’m working on building my Youtube channel! Please subscribe, thumbs up my videos, and leave comments—it makes me get motivated to make more videos. Doing Youtube so far is not as hard as I thought but it’s also time consuming. An under 2 minute video can sometimes take an hour or more to film and let’s not even talk about the time spent preparing for it.

I want to redo my wardrobe. I do a purge every once in a while and I need to do another one. The other day in a PMS-driven fit I declared I have no style…lol. I think the issue is now that I’m getting back to my pre-freelancing weight I’m experimenting more with clothes and kind of straying away from my typical outfits and looking to copy stuff I see on my IG and Pinterest feed. I’m now stuck in a style limbo where I’m fighting between my typical menswear style mixed with heels and bodycon and Paris Fashion Week street style type stuff. And then part of me is like “I can have it all!” LOL. I’ll get it together once I clean out my closet. I’ll become my own image consulting client…lol.

I’m back and forth with wanting a boyfriend or not. I just feel like NYC isn’t my market…lol. Anytime I travel I get SO much more attention from seemingly quality guys than when I’m in my home city. I mean, I get some attention here in the Empire city but it’s usually either someone of the “yo baby, what’s up” caliber or someone who seems like they need to sit on Dr. Phil’s couch. Or a really sweet guy with no ambition. I need to go back to Europe or the Caribbean and have my Josephine Baker-esque debut…lol.
OK that’s it for now. No clue why I call these posts 10 Minutes with Danielle because it surely took me WAY more than 10 minutes to write it—but maybe it’ll take you guys 10 minutes to read it? I don’t know…lol. Leave me some comments though :)
I love these posts because it’s like I’m listening to my home girl vent (you know when you call and she finally has time to talk when you ask, “So what’s up girl?”). I subscribed to your channel, didn’t even realize you had one. And btw looking at all your hair pics, you can see the difference in your face in regards to your weight loss, so great job! You’re gorgeous either way though of course.
And yes, I’m sure working out several days a week makes it difficult to post as much as you used to, but think of it this way, you’re focusing more on quality than quantity. Your posts provide more information and full looks, so in this way, less is more. No complaints here!
As far as trips, like I said before, I’m going to Panama for my 30th bday this June so I can’t wait to see where you go. If you do that European tour, please share details on how you found it. Also, it seems you plan far ahead like me. I’m going to NYC for the New Year. I have never been to NYC so it’s time to change that. I want to see your world lol.
Finally as far as men, girl! Now I’m with a guy in my city but before him, I wouldn’t date anyone that lived in the same city as me from 2009 to Sept of 2014. I dated guys in Jersey, St. Louis, and Atlanta. So date outside of your city! I loved it and it gave me an excuse to travel and for them to come to Houston. They didn’t work out but it wasn’t due to distance actually. And I’m still friends with them. (I’m actually going to see my ex in Jersey when I’m in NYC to hang out. So glad I don’t do dramatic break ups lol.) Anyway, all that is to say, do everything you want to plus more! It seems like whatever you put your mind to, you achieve it, so don’t question. And if you don’t feel like beautifying yourself sometimes, don’t do it. We (the readers) love ya either way! Ttyl

Hey Taryn!!!
LMAO @ “so what’s up girl?” Then there’s that long exhale followed by like a 20 minute story…lol. I love it!
Panama! Lucky girl! I need to do a Central American tour, too. Will definitely share! So far I’m looking at Contiki tours but I’ll let you know what I wind up doing.
Girl, I hear you but I can’t do a long distance relationship right now. Glad it worked out for you :)
Great post as always. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Your makeup tips & suggestions are priceless and keep me broke trying out new products!!

Thanks so much, Tiffany!!! Don’t go broke, girl ;)
Hey Danielle! You’re one of my favorite bloggers to follow and I always love posts like these, because I feel like I know you :) I’ve been in a funk too. not PMS-related, but I feel the same way about my hair and style. I need to get back to swimming lessons/working out in general. I need to get back to my pre- fat body (lol). I’m going to look up classes now. :)

Hey Cristine!
SO happy to hear I’m one of your favorite bloggers!!! Also love that you love these kinds of posts…lol. I always go back and forth with whether or not I want to post stuff like this so it’s good to hear you like it :)
I think you’ll feel much better getting back into swimming and working out. I curse everything out every Thursday morning before swim (especially because I’m taking classes when it’s so cold out) but I feel SO much better after. My arms and legs were SUPER stiff and sore from working out and after swim class it was like I got new limbs…lol. Ditto with working out. I got myself into a groove where working out feels like part of my routine like brushing my teeth (thank goodness) and I feel SO great after a workout.
Have you thought about what you want to do different with your hair and style?
Sooooo I totally feel you! I’m on a closet purge too! I love reading your work and your reviews because they are incredibly thorough and helpful. Go ahead and get some edge: green extensions, a chic bob or even a peekaboo fringe of blonde :)

Haha—I think I just might get some green extensions. Or maybe big chop again. Grrr—still can’t decide…lol
You’re one of my favorite bloggers too! I can relate to the PMS issues and the pimples. The struggle is real! I love your product reviews and your style. Keep the inspiration coming!
