Sometimes when I’m here hammering out beauty product reviews, some things don’t always come to mind for me right away. Thanks to Facebook fan Jam II (make sure you like my page, too!), you guys now have a post compairing the original BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Illuminator to BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed to BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector POURED. She actually only asked about Pressed vs Poured but I looked in my beauty closet (aka a shelf I seriously need to organize…lol) and found that I still have the original liquid version of the Shimmering Skin Perfector and figured I’d put it in the mix, too. Although it’s not the same color (I had Topaz but because I get a lot of makeup sent to me AND I buy a lot I purge and give to family and friends pretty often). But I did swatch Topaz a while ago here.

So here’s the differences between the three:
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Illuminator SPF 25+ is a liquid so it can be manipulated the most. You can use it on your face and body on its own or mix it with your foundation, a liquid bronzer, or lotion (in the case of your body—moisturizer in the case of your face). The effect with the liquid will be luminous but a subtle luminosity but if you add more product, you can intensify the look. The color here in Moonstone looks like a silvery pink luminous color on me and works on all skin tones.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed is a powder compact. It’s a more intense version of the liquid but again in powder form. You can use it on your face and body by applying it with a brush (a fluffy brush for all over or if you want a more concentrated look, use a brush with more densely packed bristles).
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector POURED is like a hybrid of the liquid and the powder. It’s very creamy in the compact and to the touch but it dries to a powdery finish on. You can use it on your face and body (though it’s probably best used on your decolletage since it’d be pretty hard to use all over because of the texture) using anything from your fingers to a beautyblender to a foundation brush to just about anything face-sized you can get your hands on (or you can use an eyeshadow brush if you’re highlighting small areas like the eyes). The POURED version is the most intense and concentrated out of all three so you’ll get a more intense highlight than the Pressed or liquid. Also to note the compact of the Poured is MUCH smaller than the Pressed BUT I think you’ll use less product with the Poured since it’s so concentrated.
One isn’t better than the other—it all depends on what look you’re going for and your preference. I would say that the liquid is probably better on oilier skins when it’s not as hot out—like fall/winter—and in the summer oilier skins would be better off with the Pressed or Poured.
So there ya go!
oh my gosh! this is the greatest post ever! There are so many different products and shades and textures and sometimes we’re left overwhelmed. great clarification here.
