Making this one really quick (don’t I always say that? lol). Contouring though not a new technique has been a big trend over the last few years and this year especially as more brands are making contouring kits. Today we’re talking about the NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette (received for review consideration).

Define your features like a pro with our refillable highlight and contour palette! Each set includes eight customizable highlighting and contouring shades perfect for emphasizing your favorite features. When it’s time to swap out a pan or two, you can find the palette’s Pro Singles here.
NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette has eight shades ranging from light to deep and varies in undertones. This is a good kit to have if you’re a makeup artist or—hmm…or if you live in a dorm where your dorm mates are your BFFs and vary in skin tone and you want to share a powder highlight & contour palette…lol. (Talk about a stretch…lol) Or if your skin tone varies so much throughout the year and you want to customize your highlighting and contouring experience. Other than that I can’t think of why one person would need so many highlight and contour options but luckily these do come in singles that can pop in and out of the pro palette. Only thing is the singles (which I’m assuming are the same as the ones in this palette) aren’t magnetized and seem bigger than some of the custom palette options I’ve seen so you might have trouble storing the singles if you don’t have the Pro Palette. These do fit in a flat palette like the Inglot Flexi Palette but again, it’s not magnetized so it could shift around in transit.

Other than that I did like the performance—nice and soft, easy to blend. I would have liked to see a deeper yellow or golden option for a highlight and of course a deeper contour, but I made due with what was in the palette for review purposes (I used Tan to set my highlight and Hollow to set my contour). I personally wouldn’t buy this or any of the singles for my personal use because the colors I like to use aren’t an option. The deepest shade is pretty close to a nice contour shade for someone my complexion but I’ve seen way darker options in my own stash (see what foundations and powders I use here).

Wearing the Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush I tested and reviewed here. Wearing so much so that it would show up in pics so you can see it.
Bottom line: At $25 the eight shade palette is a good deal since the singles are priced at $5 each BUT this is only a good deal if you’ll be using most of the shades in the palette which unless you’re a makeup artist or if you have lighter skin and like to vary your highlight and contour options as you tan through the year, you probably won’t. The singles might be a better option for most people—they do come in 12 shades (I haven’t seen any of the singles outside of what’s in this palette) but then there’s the issue of storing them in a palette that I described above. Perhaps NYX has an empty palette option to rectify this soon.
Price and where to buy: NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette is $25 at ULTA (NYX is currently BOGO 50% off) plus 3% cash back when you use eBates. See NYX Cosmetics for additional locations to buy products.
I’m in love with all the nyx posts! I’m obsessed with nyx. I’m definitely going to go to ulta and bogo the day away this weekend

Hopefully they have your shade. I tried to buy some more foundations at ULTA and none of the deeper shades were available online (and typically my local ULTA store doesn’t carry deeper shades in some brands). So I just bought them from the NYX website. I tweeted both ULTA and NYX to ask why the deeper shades aren’t available online at ULTA. No response yet.
This was really helpful! I was wondering if this would be suitable for my complexion but I like my contours a little deeper. I’d like to see NYX release some darker singles soon
