So much makeup, so little time. I actually bought this a few weeks ago along with some other stuff I thought you guys might enjoy seeing a review on. But it’s summer and I’ve been attempting to have summer office hours…plus sometimes I forget some of this stuff is even here. SMH. But anyway, let’s talk about this LA Girl Ultra Eyeshadow Palette.
I’m a recent L.A. Girl Cosmetics fan—I’ve bought products this year that made me feel like I was stealing because they were SO inexpensive. I also love that they have a very extensive foundation, concealer, and powder range (because I’ve made a stand on the brands I support here on the blog recently).

The Ultra Beauty Brick contains 12 shadows that run in the violet/plum/purple range. There’s A LOT of purples here. Like, purple, purple, PURPLE. Did I mention purple? LOL
One great thing about purple is that it’s one of those universally flattering makeup shades. You’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t look good in purple. These are ALL shimmery shades though—there’s not a single matte so this won’t be a “do it all” palette for most people but it’s cool if you want to try your hand at some shimmery purples to use as accents in your regular eyeshadow looks. You can also get a pretty purple smoky eye out of this, too.
Wear is good—it lasted a good 4-5 hours on me without a primer before it started to fade but like I say with all eyeshadows: unless it’s something that specifically says it doesn’t need a primer, use a primer.
I did find that there was some inconsistency in some shades—while some had amazing color payoff, some weren’t as easy to pick up unless you really pressed hard on your brush or finger into it to pick up the color.

Bottom line: It’s weird that this LA Girl Ultra palette was a bit inconsistent in quality since the other LA Girl Palette I’ve reviewed (the Nude one) didn’t have this issue. It is pretty inexpensive but even still, the inconsistency in a few shades is a little annoying and takes away from the overall enjoyment of this palette.
