So I took my weave out (review is just about ready to go—I just need to add pics to the post—should be up really soon) and got a new ‘do! I hadn’t planned on wearing weave so much this year but with swimming lessons, working out regularly, travel, AND having a ton of photo shoots, it’s just SO much easier for me. I LOOOOOVE my hair but I’d rather run the risk of weave getting overkill with heat tools and all the things I need to do to be camera ready than my own hair. Since getting the weave out I’ve been OBSESSED with my hair. Like OBSESSED. I keep texting Gabi to tell her what a monster she created…lol.
I’ve been going to Gabi (Gabrielle Corney) for the last five years. She’s SO awesome at hair that I can pretty much sit in her chair and be like “do whatever you think is cute” without flinching and loving whatever she does. I had an Indique Relaxed Straight fishnet left over that they gave me a while back. The fishnet was long—maybe 18″ but they would tangle and bunch up like CRAZY anytime I wore them so I figured cutting them would give it another use since I seriously could not wear it long because of the tangling. I’m assuming it was a bad batch because I’ve had other Indique fishnets before that had no issues.
ANYWAY. The original plan was to color them some wild rockstar color but I didn’t know what I wanted. I told Gabi to pretty much do what she wanted with it and I got this BEAUTIFUL mermaid hair. It’s blue and green and turquoise and blue-green—just so beautiful and best yet it’s the type of color that STILL goes with any lip color.

Actually, even better is that it’s a clip-in so I have the option of clipping in the color or just going “regular” AND no risk at all for damage to my own hair. Yassss.
So my hair is still natural—I haven’t had a relaxer since 2010. Gabi blow dried and flat ironed my hair with perfection and gave me a cut that framed my face so well and gave my hair lots of movement. If you remember, I shaved the right side of my hair all the way down so it’s shorter than my left side but I’m rocking it like an asymmetrical bob.
When I tell you I LOVE my hair? Like I can’t wait to play around with it more. I wish I had pictures of how it looked after we took the weave out because my hair is SO big and plentiful. But alas, I’m already plotting on my next weave because I’m not trying to deal with post-gym hair nor dealing with the manipulation that comes with being camera-ready. Ain’t nobody got time…lol.
I’m thinking my goal is to keep growing it out and at some point cut the left side so it’s the same length as the right. I used to be the girl who hated trims and trying new things with my hair and now I value style WAY more than length (having a great cut makes your hair look and perform better anyway).

Here’s a closer look at the Indique Relaxed Straight Fishnet—just note that the color doesn’t show up the same in this lighting.
I do not know which colors she used or her process—there are just some things that get kept in the vault…lol :)
