I LOVE outlet shopping. Don’t you? I mean, I love any kind of shopping I can get, but when it comes to finding some really good deals at an outlet, it’s like getting an A+ on that test you didn’t study for…lol. I recently shopped Woodbury Common Premium Outlets (one of my FAVORITE outlets EVER) armed with some gift cards and a mission to find the best holiday gifts for the folks near and dear on my list. And if I found a thing or two (or three or ten) for myself, all the merrier.
Any time I know I’m going outlet shopping, I make sure I’m prepared. That means having a general idea of what I’m looking for but also being open-minded to what else I might see out there. I also make sure I travel light and comfy: dressing in layers, really comfortable shoes—sneakers even better, at the most a light but cute crossbody bag with ONLY the essentials inside (my wallet, my phone, and my portable phone charger). I need to have my hands free and light to catch deals…lol.
I also typically like to avoid crowds and traffic by going during the week, but timing just didn’t allow it so I had to go on a Saturday. It wasn’t as crazy as I thought it would be. Some stores had lines you had to wait on just to get inside, but it wasn’t too bad.
So my first stop was the J. Crew Outlet who had 50% off on accessories (perfect because those make amazing gifts) AND if you spent $100 they gave you an additional 30% off. SWEEEEET. There were SO many giftable things to choose from in there. SO many. I started on the women’s side and found the CUTEST mint leather Passport cover. I got it for my niece because she LOVES mint (so much that she even at one point had a mint Beetle…lol) and because I want to encourage her to travel more. I also got it in a gold metallic color for myself…lol. They were only $17.25 each after the 50% discount but I also wound up getting another 30% off for spending over $100 total.
I also found a super chic jewelry tray for my sister. She can toss her earrings and rings in there. I regret not buying like two more of these since they were $8.25 each after the 50% discount.
There were also tons of cool things like cute printed flats, warm scarves, and work wardrobe essentials but I had smaller items in mind for this first round of holiday shopping.
Then I made my way over to the men’s section. I found a leather flask for my nephew (don’t worry, he’s definitely over 21…lol). It was $16.10 after the 50% discount. I also got a sleek leather iPad case. It was $38.15 after a 30% discount. I haven’t decided if I’ll give this to my nephew as well or hold it for myself…lol. It makes for a really nice clutch.
I also got a few pairs of socks for myself, but they were too cute to not show you…lol.
I did great in J. Crew! I’m happy with what I got because these make for great stocking stuffers for family or stylish gifts for people at work or even your friends. They look like you spent a lot of time and money on them, but you come out like a champion because you save so much. After everything I bought at J. Crew, my total came out to about $70 after I got the additional 30% discount. In the past I’ve spent that much on ONE gift.
Then I hit Kate Spade New York. I have never walked into Kate Spade and not seen at least five things I wanted. It’s also a must for gift shopping–everything in the store is so cute and giftable.
I saw the most perfect leather crossbody bag for my mom. It’s a soft greyish taupe so it’s on-trend yet still classic. Everything at Kate Spade was 50% off and they were offering an additional 20% off handbags, so I got it for $70. I might also be borrowing it from my mom immediately after she opens it…lol.
I also checked out Nike to see if I could get some cool stuff for my other sister, but everyone seemed to have that idea and the line was super long…lol. But they had good deals on sneakers and workout clothes, which is perfect for the gymnista in your life and also for New Year’s Resolution motivation.
At the Cosmetics Company Store
I popped into the Cosmetics Company Store to pick up some Bobbi Brown concealers. You can get tons of Estee Lauder brands there at about 30% off. They didn’t have the full color range of concealers available when I went, but I lucked out and got the three shades I needed (one for Nas, two for me…lol).
I also stopped by the Barneys Warehouse outlet because they usually have really cool edgy stuff. I saw two bags I loved, but wasn’t sure I wanted to deplete my gift card getting them. So I left, shopped around more, ate, and was still thinking about them so I went back…lol. I got an Alexander Wang bag for $440 (originally $1150) and a 3.1 Philip Lim 31 Minute Clutch for $125 (originally $295). Barney’s had an extra 30% off sale on the bags so I got them for a steal. I considered this my reward for finding such great gifts for everyone else…lol.
Taking the trip (it’s about a 90 minute drive from my house) was definitely worth it to get a head start on my holiday shopping. I’m SO happy with what I got and am already plotting on another trip. Thankfully there are tons of Simon Premium Outlets across the country so you guys can get your shop on, too. Click here to find one near you.
This is the perfect little road trip for you and your girlfriends, too. I met my homey Christene there and we made a day of it. If you go to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, I suggest going like 4-5 mins away from the property to grab lunch at Cosimo’s. Christene and I did and it was REALLY good and a great departure from the mall food court.

OMG you MUST! I’d be there at least once a month if I lived closer…lol.
I miss this place. My hometown is an hour away from there and I loved shopping there. When I got married I shopped there and in Middletown for everything from the makeup to the dress. But now I live in TX and I got a little homesick.

Awww! There might be an equivalent Simon outlet near you though.
Nice haul! Sounds like you got some awesome deals! I’ve only been to Woodbury Commons once years ago but I remember it being a good place to find luxury items @ a discount.
