I’ve written a ton of posts here on the blog about how to get rid of dark spots, but I thought a video would also be great.
I’m currently working my way through the worst hyperpigmentation I’ve had in ten years. I’ve always had a dark spot here or there—typically on my chin after a PMS-related pimple, but I kept getting breakouts in the SAME spots which resulted in dark spots that would appear before the previous ones faded. It’s spots on spots on spots. I’m going to do a full post on everything I did to get rid of them in a few months or once I get them mostly faded. One thing that has helped is to switch to products for adult acne—having less breakouts is also preventing new dark spots from forming. You can read about my current routine here.
Another thing that also helped was cycling off my dark spot treatment—something I learned from a derm once at a press event. You basically take a few weeks—maybe even a month off from using the active ingredient and then put it back into your routine. In simple language, doing this sometimes helps to “recharge” the process. I was initially cycling off because I had plans to visit a derm for something prescription strength, but then I noticed a difference after using the acne regimen so I went back to my $8 Alpha Hydrox Spot Treatment.
But anyway, get into this video and please subscribe to my Youtube channel :)

thanks for reading! The thing with dark spots is they can always come back as a result of some form of “trauma” to the skin. You can fade the ones you have at the time, but you can get new ones after a pimple, scratch, etc.
