If there’s a foundation out there that comes in deeper skin tones AND that matches my skin tone, more than likely I’m all on it to try it out. I’m a foundation FIEND (okay, I’m also a blush, lip color, lashes, eyeshadow, and product fiend—okay, I just really LOVE makeup) and my own foundation stash is pretty stellar, but it is my duty as a beauty blogger—especially one who focuses on makeup that looks fab on darker skin tones, to report on as many as I can. I recently teamed up with No7 to try out the No7 Stay Perfect Foundation.
Like I mentioned, No7 makes some amazing skincare products—almost every time there’s been a BOGO sale at Walgreens I’ve been scoping the aisles like I don’t already own everything relevant for my skin…lol. AND this is even when I could ask the brand to send me stuff. I’ve only dabbled in a few of their color cosmetics—namely the blushers I bought when I was in London last year and got to visit the mothership on Oxford St. Those blushers were SO vibrant and pigmented and amazing on my chocolate skin. Doing the most and going the extra mile—exactly how I like my blush. (Quick tip: the darker your skin, the more vibrant the blush shade—don’t be scared—trust me, it looks amazing)

But since I set out to use as many No7 products as I could for the sake of this post, I got to try out a ton of products I also now love.
No7 Stay Perfect Foundation:
This really WOWED me. Closest shade to my skintone is Chestnut (see the shades I wear in various brands here)

You’ll get pretty decent coverage with this foundation—sheer it out for light coverage or add a layer for medium. I even added a little more where I needed more coverage where I had dark spots on my forehead and chin. It covered them well—not completely but good enough for me. The finish is a gorgeous satin—not matte, not dewy but a happy medium. You can go anywhere from natural to “BEAT” with this foundation. It totally doesn’t look or feel like “drugstore” makeup and reminds me of some department store light to medium coverage liquid foundations.
Sometimes in mainstream foundations my shade is the darkest (and that’s IF they even go that deep) but there is a shade deeper than mine—Ebony. I have neutral undertones but can take a little bit of warmth in my foundations. I was worried at first that the shade wouldn’t match well, but as it settled it warmed up. Both Chestnut and Ebony seem a bit neutral/olive in undertone but seem to warm a little as they settle. Hard to say which other brand equivalents they are (you can read more about that here) but thankfully there are testers in store so you can go in bare-faced and try it out before deciding on the shade.
It wears well—I only needed minor touching up throughout the day (I have oily skin) but I can see me needing to use a mattifying moisturizer and maybe a primer when it gets warmer out during the summer.
No7 Shimmer Palette in Bronze:
OMG this is BEAUTIFUL! It’s so pigmented and manages to be a radiant, glowing powder highlighter that isn’t excessively shimmery. This is better for those with pore or texture issues because you won’t have a gazillion shimmer particles highlighting everything.
No7 Powder Blusher:
These are SO AMAZING. So pigmented and perfect—it’s a little hard to believe they’re drugstore. I used shade Plum Velvet in the look, but I also have Berry Crush which I bought when I was in London.
No7 Stay Perfect Trio Eyeshadow Palette:
I liked these—good pigmentation (make sure you use a primer or base as I advise with all shadows) but I’d love to see more colors and perhaps single shadows or bigger palettes.
No7 Dramatic Lift Mascara:
I like this but like it more when used with the No 7 Extreme Length Mascara. Used together you’ll get some pretty impressive lashes. I still like to add falsies for drama, but that’s just me being extra…lol.
So overall I loved the foundation formula but do wish the brand would expand the deeper shades which from what I read on their social profiles is something they say is in the works.

Disclosure: This post was created in sponsorship with No 7. As always all opinions are 100% my own.
This foundation looks nice on you! We’re around the same shade so I was worried this may be too olive for me but it seems to suit you well. I may end up picking it up if I see it while I’m out. The shimmer palette and blushes look amazing though! I don’t need anymore blush or another highlighter but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist the shimmer palette or Plum Velvet if I find them. They’re gorgeous!

Thanks! I was worried a little about it matching but I tried it out first and it does tend to warm a little to the skin after a bit.
thanks for sharing this! I was just checking that Boots airbrush foundation and was thinking how is anyone supposed to know what shade they are if its not sold in stores. :sighs: Then I saw you reviewed another of their foundations. The highlighter looks very nice!

Thanks for reading! Yup—and there’s testers in store, too thankfully. I LOOOOOVE the highlighter!
Swatched the chestnut shade in Target a few weeks ago. The undertone was a dead on match, which was a first. Will definitely be trying out all the foundation formulations from No7. There are many darker WOC that have golden/olive undertones that are ignored by cosmetics companies.

Hey Kianna!
That’s awesome! And yes, I agree—sometimes the deeper shades go very red—which is great for those with red/warm undertones but it’s great to have more undertone options for darker skin.
