Listen, if the limited edition makeup-sphere continues the way it has, I may need to tap out…lol. I got an advance code to shop Pat McGrath Skin Fetish 003 an hour earlier than it went on sale to the public and the second I was on the site it was down. I took sneak peeks at social media and everyone trying to get it was complaining about site issues. I would get in and then the site would crash. I would get the items in my cart then as I would try to check out it would crash again. My blood pressure can’t take it but my thirst for makeup can be at such highs sometimes :/
But this was the makeup launch to be had because: PAT MCGRATH and PRETTY. These are highlighter kits that come with a duo-sided highlighter and balm, pigment, and brush (the brush is a narrow stipple-type brush). Pat McGrath Skin Fetish 003 comes in two shades: Nude and Golden. Here I’m going to give my quick first impression thoughts ahead of its Sephora launch on May 10th. And of course I’m going to do a full review once I’ve had time to play with it.
So first things first, I found the sequin packaging to be kinda cool until I had to actually open it. I was PISSED at the amount of sequins that are now on my floor for me to clean up. It would have been one thing if the products were in a separate casing where it didn’t actually touch the sequins, but they are buried ALL UP AND THROUGH the sequins. I had to dig pretty deep to get the pigment out and of course that caused some more of the sequins to spill out. You could be super neat with opening this and still have sequin spillage. AND THEN WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ALL THOSE SEQUINS?!?!? Yeah, if you’re crafty it’s cool because you have material to do whatever with, but if you’re not it’s just such a waste.
Shipping for me was SUPER quick and I used regular shipping. This could be because of where their warehouse is located and mail seems to get here pretty quickly in NYC. I ordered it on the 26th and it was here by the 28th. Each set was $72.
The product seems pretty cool so far—I like that you can vary the amount of highlighter and manipulate the textures. You can do the pigment on its own, the pigment with the highlighter side, the pigment with the clear balm side, or just the highlighter side on its own. It can be as intense or as subtle as you want to make it.
So far I like it but I definitely need to play around with it more to see how I like to wear it most. I’m still pissed about the sequins though…lol.
I wasn’t blessed with good sunlight to photograph these today so they may appear “ashy” in these swatch pics but trust me, they are not ashy…lol. When I can get better light, I’ll try to show them more true to form.
LMAO!! I feel so bad for laughing but that sequins attack just killed meme. I definitely thought they would be packaged separately like just in the front. The idea seems super cute but I would have been pissed about sequins flying everywhere too. Thank goodness it wasn’t glitter!! The highlighters and pigments look very pretty though. I thought I would like both from the videos I saw but only the gold one seems to do it for me. Still don’t know if I want to spend $72 for it but it does look mighty nice
