I used to be super trifling when it came to not only buying more makeup than I could ever use, but even worse I was even more trifling with how I would store it all. But I have SEEN the light and did a 40-pound purge from my stash and got my stash in order!
If you want to see the purge in action plus a talk through of all of the products in my stash, check out the video version of this embedded at the end of this post. If you’re curious as to what an item is and why I like it, definitely check out the video because I go through it all there.
I bought these organizers a while back—you might remember them from my Stylish & Affordable Makeup Storage ideas post. I got them at Target—shop them in the widget below. I love these because they look great, seem durable, and are roomy enough to fit my stash.
I store my makeup in my bathroom but since the lighting in there sucks, I took these pics in my bedroom. Having my makeup displayed this way makes it a cinch when it comes to doing my makeup not to mention I can see everything I have clear as day so I don’t “accidentally” wind up buying new things that are so similar to things I already own…lol.
I used to own a gazillion eyeshadow palettes but gave them away to friends and family (I donated any unopened makeup). Having these custom palettes makes it so much easier for me to have everything I need right in front of me and I don’t have instances like when you buy a pre-made eyeshadow palette and there are shades you never use. I wrote about the NARS Pro palette and refills here so if you’re curious check it out.
You can get the names of the shadows in my MAC palettes here. EDIT 9/16/19: I have since downsized my NARS palette and gave away the shadows. I now have the smaller NARS palette and only have the blush shades in there. The NARS blushes (wide rectangle ones) are: Miss Liberty, Exhibit A, Seduction, Orgasm, Taj Mahal. The others are from Inglot (skinny rectangle ones): #62, #70, #41.
I don’t love this as my brush holder, but I bought it and don’t want to feel like I wasted my money…lol. It’s a pencil holder from the Nate Berkus line for Target that I bought about 2-3 years ago.
Love this- the purge and the cute storage system. It is so much easier to use when you can see your stuff.

Hey Shanea!
YESSSSS—so much easier when you can see everything!
Love the inexpensive storage solution. I won’t tell you how much I spent on acrylic storage unit a few years back when they were all the rage. Thanks for reminding me that I need a brush holder.
