Try This for Summer Makeup: Cover FX Power Play Foundation + Blurring Primer

This will be a really quick post (or I’ll try to make it quick) but here’s a combo to try if you have oily skin and want to ensure your makeup lasts in the summer heat: Cover FX Blurring Primer + Cover FX Power Play foundation. There was a makeup artist on the brand’s IG stories not too long ago who used this on a makeup demo and since I had the products here, I gave it a whirl. I LOVE this for the warmer days.

You can watch it on the Cover FX page as they have it saved to their highlights right now (you may have to tap until you see the makeup artist guy with the bald head and beard).

This magic happens after you do your skincare (and if it’s during the day, make sure you’re wearing an SPF moisturizer). So the Cover FX Blurring Primer will help to smooth over your pores helping to reduce the appearance of pores and smooth over fine lines. It will NOT get rid of pores (nothing will) but it gives you a smooth surface to apply your makeup. Next you apply the Cover FX Power Play foundation (matte finish and sweat-proof) and then you set with powder (they used the Cover FX Perfect Setting powder which I love but didn’t have at the ready so I just used the Make Up For Ever Super Matte Loose Powder in Chocolate). The artist also used the new Cover FX High Performance Setting Spray to help things in order but I wanted to try this without the setting spray (I’ll perhaps do something on the setting spray down the line).

Now when I first tried the Cover FX Power Play foundation, it was still very cold out here in NYC so it was too matte even for my oily skin which as I get older isn’t AS oily as it once was, but is still oily. But now that the warmer weather is coming through (except why was it so chilly yesterday?!?!), Cover FX Power Play is perfect for me.

When I do the Cover FX Blurring Primer + Cover FX Power Play foundation combo, my skin looks exactly like my skin but better. The blurring helps my skin look even smoother and the foundation helps to really even out my skin tone without looking heavy. And my makeup stays looking amazing much longer even in the heat. YASSSSS. So give it a try if you’re looking for something new in your routine. You can give it a try before you commit to buying by sliding in your nearest Sephora and getting samples (except maybe not the Sephora Inside JCPenney in the Manhattan Mall—someone there told me and my friend that they don’t give samples *eyeroll*).

I’ll keep you posted on the High Performance Spray. Make sure you’re subscribed to the blog so you don’t miss it and follow me on social for behind the scenes into my beauty blogger life.

Would you try this? Which foundation are you rocking right now for summer? Tell me in the comments!
