So I had been eyeballing these Pat McGrath Labs eyeshadow palettes for a while. They were calling my name, winking at me, catcalling me—I mean just doing the MOST to get my attention. I finally got one through a friend in media, so this is a PR sample though not a direct one. Now let’s get into this Pat McGrath Labs Mothership V Eyeshadow Palette – Bronze Seduction…
So first things first, if you’re at all familiar with Pat McGrath’s work, you’ll know she’s one of the most important and influential makeup artists in the entire world. Her work has graced the stages of major couture shows such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, and many, many more. Her work is like magic, fairy dust, and fantasy all perfectly meshed together (seriously, google “Pat McGrath” work and you’ll see what I mean). So her becoming a self-made billionaire through launching her makeup brand is no shocker.
So for those who aren’t familiar with Pat McGrath’s work in the fashion industry, her makeup isn’t going to be something you could easily find at just ANY cookie cutter brand (I’d name names, but I’m trying to make this post go quickly…lol). Her makeup is an EXPERIENCE. So you’re not going to get a practical everyday nude palette from this line. Sure, you’ll get some nudes in a palette, but this is more about wearable fantasy than being your next naked palette, ya know?
Official description:

This collection of 10 ravishingly-rich pigments melts into skin, highlighting and defining eyes for the ultimate in supernatural seduction. Starring a spectrum of sensorial pigments, crystalline pearls, and cream-infused powders, these next-generation formulations set eyes ablaze in luxurious, vibrant color and metallic shine. Galactic glamour awaits as tantalizing textures glide on in a single sensuous stroke, transforming with seamless blendability. Ignite endless looks in impassioned hues that fuel your fantasies, and make eye contact with the next dimension. This palette contains:
– 10 x Eyeshadows in Skin Show Divine Glow (golden champagne), Entrapment (tawny terracotta matte), Blaze Bronze (glittering golden bronze), Rose Gold 005 (gleaming rose gold), VR Fire Opal (color shifting chartreuse), Xtreme Aubergine (blackened matte violet), Gilty Pleasure (silky bronzed taupe), Disobedient (classic matte mahogany), Blitz Flame (molten metallic crimson), Astral Luna Gold (glistening white gold)
I love the quality of the shadows—the nudes feel buttery smooth, the shimmery shades feel three dimensional, and the colors are all so stunning. While you *could* make some neutral, work-friendly looks from some of the shades, this is of course not the palette you buy intentionally for neutral, work-friendly looks. This is FASHION, hunty. EXTRAVAGANZA.
Wear and pigmentation is amazing as well, but as I suggest with all eyeshadows regardless of quality and/or price tag, you should always use a primer or base underneath to ensure all day wear without creasing or fading.
I can also see why these palettes are $125. The packaging is sturdy and substantial AF—I can’t even see a clutz like me breaking it. You get 10 great quality eyeshadows. And then of course it’s Pat McGrath. MUVA don’t come cheap, boo.
There are three other color variations in this series, and there are also $55 smaller palettes. I reviewed and demoed the MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Temptation Eyeshadow Palette on my Youtube channel in the video below.
