I guess this is becoming an unofficial Concealer Week here at TSABD. Yesterday I did a quick review of the tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer and today it’s the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer. I also picked up two other concealers and have some others from more brands I’ll be reviewing soon, so make sure you sign up for my blog updates so you know when a new post is up and also bookmark my concealer category.
Official description:
What it is: A creamy concealer with medium, buildable coverage, a natural finish, and second-skin feel in a self-setting formula with up to 12-hour, crease-free wear.
What Else You Need to Know: MAKE UP FOR EVER’s iconic Ultra HD technology for flawless, invisible coverage is now available in concealer form. Coated pigments diminish the appearance of dark circles, fine lines, and imperfections, and immediately set. The smoothing, hydrating, creamy liquid captures and diffuses light so that skin that appears bright, flawless, and fresh all day.
Now where this Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer already surpasses the tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer is in that although there aren’t a ton of deeper shades, MUFE does a MUCH better job at getting the undertones right. (For the record, Fenty Beauty has the best concealer range for darker skin that I’ve seen in quite some time—maybe even ever) Some shades may work for a number of skin tones in the MUFE range. I used shade 53 (Brown) and it had the right amount of warmth in it to cancel out the dark discoloration under my eyes. I also loved the self-setting formula—I had no creasing under my eye and didn’t even have to set with powder. I also love the MUFE HD Concealer (I posted a review on it here) for its color-correcting and brightening properties. The difference between the two would be the Self-Setting gives more coverage and has a brush applicator. I also think they might have discontinued the HD Concealer and replaced it with the Self-Setting, as I’m not seeing the HD on Sephora.com nor on the MUFE site.
(Stay tuned for quick reviews on the other concealers swatched here)
