My Quarantine Lazy Morning Self-Care Routine

This post is sponsored by Olay. As always all opinions are 100% my own.

Oh 2020. You are seriously looking like those “what I expected vs what I got” memes come to life. Never would I have imagined we’d be here right now. Yet here we are.

Most days I’m great. I’ll be hyped to create content for YouTube and Instagram or doing the running man because I SLAYED yet another recipe. Then some days, well, let’s just keep this on a cheery note :x

One thing for sure that has been helping me throughout all of this is keeping an EASY self-care routine, and I’m happy to share what I do in the morning in hopes that it will inspire you to create one of your own. Because while we all imagine ourselves luxuriating for hours upon hours in self-care acts, ain’t nobody got time for that.

Wake up and let some light in.

Having good quality sleep has definitely been my ultimate form of self-care. I make sure my bedroom is only thought of as a place of relaxation, so I try not to bring work in there. No desktop, no laptop, and barely any TV. My bedroom is also the one place in the apartment that I consistently keep tidy because I want it to feel as much as a sanctuary as possible.

When I wake up, one of the first things I do is open my blinds and curtains and let some natural light in. I just LOVE how bright inside my room gets—I purposely painted the walls stark white so that the light radiates in here. This also makes for bomb videos and selfies lol.

Let the cat in.

One thing I am extremely grateful for during this pandemic is having Katt Williams (my cat, not the comedian..lol). If you’re able to foster or adopt a pet during this time, it can do wonders for your mood. One of the most adorable things ever is when I open my bedroom door in the morning and he comes galloping towards me looking to be petted.

Do my skincare routine.

After lounging in bed for a few minutes, I head to the bathroom to shower and do my daytime skincare routine. Maintaining my skincare routine has been important to me because on days where I slack, I quickly realize I need to get back on track typically within a day or two when the breakouts pop up.

A non-negotiable in my routine (and *AHEM* in yours, too) is sunscreen. Olay, who already makes some of my favorite moisturizers and sunscreens, recently launched Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 and it’s what I call a “lazy luxury.” Basically something that feels luxurious, is the ultimate in self-care, but takes very little effort to complete. You guys know how much I love the Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream Fragrance Free, Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 is a lightweight, equally hydrating and skin-protecting version that includes SPF 40. It combines both your moisturizing step and your sunscreen step making it a great multitasking product especially when you feel like you just can’t do another thing. But give yourself a HUGE high-five for using it because in literally like ten seconds you checked off a major self-care step in your daily routine.

Get some air.

The weather is getting nicer out and if you can venture out *safely* it can be a great part of a self-care routine. But remember: UV exposure is cumulative, meaning all those 5-10 min walks or heading out to the grocery add up. I’ve always been an advocate of wearing sunscreen during the day, year-round, but it’s very important not to forget this important self-care step.

Luckily for those who find sunscreens to be heavy and not easy to blend into the skin, I’m happy to report that Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 hydrates the skin well while feeling like nothing on and blends in beautifully into darker skin tones. It also plays really well with makeup and won’t set your budget back. Aow!
